Introduction | | In years gone by, most leaders sat close to their teams, alongside most of the resources they needed, didn't they?
Not so today, as organisational hierarchies are flatter and geographically spread. A leader's reach is now broad, their resources are dispersed across teams, and the concept of control has fundamentally shifted.
A leader's ability to execute is much more reliant on others than it used to be. This means that "Command & Control" managers are less effective in using status to drive results.
Those with ability to negotiate, persuade, and influence others; these are the people now labelled as "visionaries".
The bottom line is that we could all benefit from a little more influence, the power to get people on our side, couldn't we?
Put another way, when we're unable to influence people below, around, and especially above us, we know our struggles may affect the business outcomes we desire.
This Workshop therefore takes an emotionally intelligent approach to influence. Our focus pushes aside use of raw power, and similarly styled command & control approaches.
Instead, we replace them with more effective influencing strategies and tactics. The course duration is just right | | Your Workshop Facilitator: Mr. Patrick O'Brien, CMgr | | | | With a constant appetite for change, Patrick came to realise one very important thing: it's the People that matter in business, personal development and growth counts. His learning delivery approach therefore focuses on building those important soft skills. Training thus scaffolds atop three firm foundations.
First, for learning to stick, it needs to be fun; enjoyment & engagement are precursors to absorption & adoption. Next, for learning to be relevant, it has to be real; it needs collaboration, openness, and a little intensity. His formal education is well rounded: Honours in IT, Masters in Marketing and MBA in Finance. He is also a "Master Practitioner" of NLP, and an enthusiastic author with Articles regularly appearing in the local media. In whatever form you experience his work, you'll always feel his curiously cheerful sense of enjoyment; it shines through.
Patrick is an active member of many international Professional bodies, such as the Chartered Management Institute, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Directors. He is proud to be one of only a small handful of "Chartered Managers" in Asia.
