Information For Potential Male Voice Over Talents

By Jocelyn Davidson

Hollywood and other areas within the entertainment industry often offer a number of different jobs and intern opportunities. One area in which this is the case, is that of seeking male voice over talents. When looking for these talents, the business often looks toward job boards and online websites which provide a database of different individuals working in the industry.

Individuals becoming involved in the industry need to have the ability to speak in a clear and natural voice. This is true whether being asked to speak in the voice of God, or a sexy sultry woman. When individuals can do so, there are often a number of different jobs within the industry for which these individuals may qualify. Unfortunately, those speaking in a monotone voice, or those who have no vocal control, generally need not apply.

While most individuals want to work in film, radio and television, there are often more jobs in relation to advertising, commercials and websites. Flexibility can go a long way in working towards becoming a narrator for film and television, or working with an online or traditional radio station.

Also, while most everyone wants to work in radio, film and television, it pays to be flexible. Voice over talents often provide work for ads, commercials and websites as well as narration for various movies and television shows. Beyond these areas, there are also opportunities for creating website advertising, and at events worldwide.

Whether male or female, there are some things an individual needs to know to become successful. First, it is important regardless of the position and tone, to always sound natural. Whether talking in sultry sexy voice, or the voice of the God, vocals need to be as clear and natural, unless directed otherwise.

It is important when applying to assure that the application is complete and correct. If and when providing a recording as part of the process, recordings should be made in either a professional, or home recording studio. Whether recorded at home, through an online recording program, or at a studio, it is important to include a number of different vocal samples.

Also, while some work can be done from a home studio, there are some studios which require individuals work on site. Most often those required to work on site are generally working as part of a film, or television crew. Whereas, those creating voice tracts for commercials and websites are often allowed more opportunities to work from home.

Professional actors have an edge, so all application tapes and recordings need to be as professional as possible. Otherwise, individuals are most likely only wasting time. Whereas, those submitting professional recordings, along with well thought out and accurate applications often have at least some chance of finding work in the industry.
