Short Story Ideas And Writing Tips

By Kathleen Stine

Writing short stories does not just take a lot of superb writing skills but it also takes a lot of discipline to follow a writing process wherein one can come up with a plot and the entire story body. Now before one would actually come up with a masterpiece, he has to first follow a certain process of conceptualizing and outline before he comes up with the final output. For those who do not know where to start, here are some short story ideas and writing tips that may be useful.

Now what most do not know is that coming up with the plot is actually the hardest thing for a writer to do. Now the plot is not just something that will appear in the mind of a writer in just a few seconds. A writer has to look for the plot and try to formulate the synopsis in his head which will actually take a long process to do.

Now the first step in this entire process is actually the conceptualization which would actually take a lot more time and effort that most people would think. Now in order to start, one has to first get notebook and start writing down some random notes that might help in the story. It can actually be about anything that he would want to include.

Now he just has to keep on writing his random thoughts during his free time for a time period probably about few days. After doing this, then he can start filtering out his thoughts and combining them. Now these thoughts may be about anything maybe an event that happened, an existing story, or probably the experience of another person.

Now upon collecting some of the thoughts in one place, one would most likely already have an idea of the flow of the tale. Now once he already knows it, then he may now create a short outline sequencing the events. Now as for the format, one can just find a format on the internet and just fill in the blanks.

Now the basic story line would usually have the introduction, the body, the climax, and of course the ending. Now the outline will be composed of these four parts and would sometimes even include twists. Now the subheadings would be under these four parts and the subheadings would then be composed of the events that would be happening.

The next thing to do would be to then complete the tale by filling up the entire outline. Once one has already done this, he has already created his first draft and is ready for editing. Now after he has edited his first draft, he can then add a little bit more style to the writing to make it more beautiful.

Now most writers do not like to edit because they think it is one big hassle. However, one should keep on editing until he feels like there is nothing wrong. Also, get a third party writer to take a look at it and give some feedback as well.
