Innovation Through Design Thinking – An Experiential Workshop [28 - 29 Jul'14]

Businesses around the world are facing design challenges every single day, from Customers feedback systems to daily schedules. Wherever they fall on the spectrum of scale – the challenges faced by employees are real, complex and varied. And as such, they require new perspectives; new tools, and new approaches. Design Thinking is one of them.

Design Thinking is the confidence that everyone can be part of creating a more desirable future and a process to take action when faced with a difficult challenge. That kind of optimism is well needed in the workplace. The design process is what puts Design Thinking into action. It’s a structured approach to generating and developing ideas. It spurs innovation and solve complex problem. It’s one of the key reasons why Apple is so successful and the reason that malnourishment rates of children in Vietnam is cut by half.

This workshop will enable participants to move from the conventional problem solving practices to one that is focus deeply on the human process that taps into attitudes we all have but overlooked. It relies on our abilities to be intuitive; to recognize patterns; to construct ideas that are emotionally meaningful as well as functional, and being able to express ourselves beyond words and symbols. In short Design Thinking is the ability to combine empathy for the context of the problem; creativity in the generation of insights and solutions; and rationality to analyze and fit solutions to the context
