2 Day Workshop Being a Powerful Communicator

- Mastering your Mind, Listening & Presenting

Introduction
 
Every day you think, you feel, you talk, you listen and you present your ideas, your projects and your proposals to family members, friends, colleagues, subordinates, clients; your boss and so many others. Mastering the ability to think and feel of exactly what you want to say, to convey the message in a confident- impact-full-honest way and listening emphatically-giving credit to the person you are communicating to, is paramount in order to be credible and effective as a business manager but most of all as a leader both at work and at home. Your confidence, self-esteem and charisma will have an immediate influence on others around you. This Training Programme will equip you with a new awareness and a wealth of practical tools.

Mastering your mind means becoming the Managing Director of your life

Our brain is a beautiful machine which has been given to us equipped with a very powerful "hard-disk"; then we start to write our "software". Soon we forget we need to update it in order to progress, but not always looks possible because of many obstacles, and we either resign to the reality we have created, or we follow what circumstances or others decided for us. Creates awareness on how we and others operate is the first step in order to be able to re-write our "software" and design the life we want, in order to be confident on managing our private and working life, and be models for others through healthy communication and behaviours. This will lead to more responsibility and success at work and life.

Listening, the communication part which has never been taught

We learn to speak very soon in our life, followed by writing and reading, but, in most of the cases, listening is taught in terms of discipline- punishment and very fast we learn to stop listening and be only concentrated in ourselves, in how to defend our position; we become very self-conscious. By becoming active-creative listeners, you will improve your communication style; you will be more confident and able to connect better with yourself and others. Your ability to influence, persuade and negotiate will be enhanced. Even more important, you will prevent conflict and misunderstandings, meaning more peace at work and in the family.

The Effective Presenter is the one who presents to an audience, not to himself

For many people the idea of presenting in front of an audience is more scaring than thinking about dying. The main reason for this is because when we are in front of an audience we are more preoccupied about what people will think about us that what we have to give to them; we become very self-conscious. In this segment emphasis will be placed on how we, human-beings, communicate the messages to ourselves first, and then how we deliver it to others. Participants will also gain some awareness and understanding on how our past, our history is influencing our present and how we think about our future. Each person will also be coached individually in all the steps of a Powerful Presentation, such as the use of visual aids, props, structure or map, dealing with butterflies, content, voice or verbal communication, body language or emotional communication, and the importance of the congruency between Content, Voice, Body & Emotional Language; what I summarize as: Integrity-Congruence- Analysis. They will experience the key-factors which keep the audience interested and excited about the presentation and the importance of a clear objective (what convinces the audience to buy their presentation). The participants will also learn how to give feed-back to each-other presentations.

I attended Leonardo's 'Being a Powerful Communicator' workshop without high expectations since I presumed it would be just another talk with all the "technical tips" you never get to use.
