Science Fiction Comic Book Authors Are Real People

By Gloria Mason

One very great science fiction comic book authors is a person who has spent most of his life acting. This is one man who first got into the entertainment business at a very early age and has delighted audiences for many years. His name is Billy Mumy and many of his fans know him quite well. He is one of the great pioneers of televisions in America.

On February 1, 1954 the state of California welcomed Charles William Mumy, Jr. Into this great big world. He was a young man who would have many accomplishments when it came to acting, music and a variety of other things. Television fans know him as the smart child named William Robinson on the hip 1960's show "Lost In Space".

Casting directors know him because of his red hair and freckles. They thought that he had an all American look that would win any audience. Hollywood producers recognized him instantly whenever he walked into an audition. "Lost In Space" became his first big hit since he was playing the very smart younger sibling on this show. Angela Cartwright, Marta Kristen, Guy Williams, June Lockhart and the handsome Mark Goddard were also on this series.

The "Twilight Zone" producers featured him on their show some years earlier when he portrayed an evil young lad. The show was titled "It's A Good Life" and Billy was indeed a force to be reckoned with in this episode. He would punish any person who challenged him.

In this episode even his parents were very much afraid of him and they did not do anything to antagonize him. In a final scene of the show his character turns one of the neighbors into a jack-in-the-box. After this episode aired many people were very careful not to alienate small children.

Young Billy grew a very strong and lasting friendship with his onscreen sisters Angela and Marta. They would often hang out together when time allowed them to do so. Years later the trio are still very close and this has enriched all of their lives. When he is writing Billy makes sure to always place everyone into his books.

There are plenty of new exciting adventures in his book and every story takes place in deep space. Billy wanted the original show to have a fourth season but the main producer of this series did not want this to happen. After three years on the air "Lost In Space" was canceled and the sets were taken apart. Mr. Mumy got his revenge on Irwin Allen by writing these new stories and making his television sisters the main focus of these books. Mr. Allen had always wrote many of the television stories around Jonathan Harris and this was quite unfair to the rest of the players.

Billy Mumy makes all science fiction comic book authors look very good to their fans. He takes the time to attend almost every convention and talk to people about his upcoming tales and outer space plot lines.
