A Guide To Convert To Judaism

There are simple steps to be followed in order to convert to Judaism. The intention is to make sure that the choice is personal and informed by understanding of the Jewish faith and way of life. It is not an easy and straightforward process. There are beliefs, traditions and norms to learn. This takes time as the rabbi scrutinizes you to be sure that you are ready for conversion.

You will begin by researching into the customs, history and laws of the Jews. You will know the kind of life you are signing into and why you want to take that step. It is important to note that the decision you make will affect every part of your life. You are expected to teach the same belief to your children.

You will be taught the thirteen pillars and 613 commandments. They are the basis of this religion. You are required to discuss your decision with family members. This is to make them understand your move, intentions and desires. It makes them comfortable with your conversion.

It is tough for anyone to covert because of marriage. It is a requirement to have the conviction before converting. It is common to hear that Im a rabbi who is not ready to admit anyone for convenience sake. Your spouse will help you choose a denomination to follow. Personal decision and conviction are important when converting.

Those who wish to convert to Judaism must display sincerity and genuine intentions. The feelings must be spiritual and not the convenience of marriage. You also will identify the branch you wish to join. There are Orthodox, Conservatives, and Reform Jews. Their level of devotion varies and their concentration is in different parts of the world.

When you have made a decision, it is important to inform the Rabbi. He most likely will discourage you in order to measure your level of conviction. Persistent is an indication of personal resolve. This signals a willingness to go through the entire process. The process is not as easy and fast as it happens in other religions.

There are classes for faithful wishing to convert to Judaism. They last almost or over a year and can be offered during the night. The guidance of the Rabbi ensures that you follow all the requirements of Jewish laws and traditions. Learners are introduced to culture, religion, traditions and beliefs among other ideals of the Jews. Hebrew is the preferred language of delivery.

Every learner is required to take a test after completing classes. You will sit in a court of three authorities called Beit Din to test how well you can adhere to Halacha. This is a mandatory procedure during conversion. Those who qualify are taken through the ritual bath ceremony. It involves full emersion in Mikveh. All males must have been circumcised. Shedding a little blood will complete the ritual.

Children do not convert to Judaism automatically because their parents have converted. Strict orders even demand that a mother who is pregnant cannot pass this spirituality at birth. Such a child must take independent classes at teenage. Children born after conversion are not required to undergo this ritual.
