Reasons To Read New Suspense Novels

By Marylou Forbes

The society of today are often attracted to the sleek, lightweight and minimalist designed look of the gadgets and appliances that make their way out of the market. Radios are swapped for iPods. Analog clocks are replaced with digital ones. Newspapers are already accessed online. At present, people hardly bring books around anymore such as new suspense novels, you would think it is taboo.

Reading good old books today seem to be some kind of a lost art. Modern generations hardly ever pick up these stuff and read. For them, there are so many things better than perusing through old pages. They would just rather watch TV all day, surf the net during their free time, and do other stuff. If there is a novel that has become really famous, they will just wait for the movie version of the said story in cinemas.

What these people fail to realize is that these books bring a certain kind of joy that you do not find in the modern gadgets available today. There is nothing quite like snuggling on a couch by the window with a good suspense book and hot chocolate on a rainy day. It does not need any charging as it is not battery operated. You can get lost in its pages whenever you feel like it, wherever you feel like it.

There are also people who read, yet the books they consider to be worth reading are only the factual ones. They limit their reading selection to periodicals, science magazines and subscriptions, history books, biographies, and autobiographies of notable individuals and personalities. Those that are labeled as fiction such as romance, horror, thriller, and suspense are not worth wasting their intellect upon.

On the contrary, immersing oneself in the fictional genre has its benefits. Even though is it branded as a work of fiction, it can actually contain a substantial amount of truth. All those factual ones can bend or alter some events in order to protect a live person, but fiction does not do that. It only states things as they happen, which is why the most gripping truths are in the pages of a fictional story.

Reading also stimulates mental functions. A mentally stimulated mind can help prevent the onset of Alzheimers and dementia, the two most destructive enemies of the think process. Reading to the mind is what exercise is to the body, so to stay brain healthy, it is recommended that you read more.

It is also very much enjoyable, a good way to spend your free time. Some spend their alone time partying and other destructive activities when they could just chill out with a very engaging suspense story. They can even be compelling to the point that the reader also formulates his or her own takes as to how things should have happened.

It can also widen your view on things. You get to know so much by reading a lot. You will experience the feeling of being a good doctor, a spy, a secret agent, even a psychopath.

It also makes you think. You get to know how good people turn into the worst criminals. It also makes you aware of the many problems in life that other people are experiencing.
