How To Become A Better Womens Fiction Writer

By Helen Scott

Women's fiction novels are usually confused with women's writing by most readers. Women novels are meant to describe the life and experiences of a female protagonist. On the other hand, women's writing describes literature that is authored or promoted by a female. Writing a women's fiction book requires one to consider a few aspects. Here are a few guidelines for becoming a better womens fiction writer to think through.

Settle on the type of novel to write. You can decide to write short or long literature depending on what you love. Long writing can include multiple genres since they have a lot of topics to cover. Short writing usually focuses on a single genre and are written for blogs, newspaper articles, and magazine articles as well.

Describe your protagonist well. Use the first few paragraphs or lines to describe the kind of protagonist you have. Such considerations strike a connection between the reader and the character creating the interest to learn more about her. Make sure that the reader understands the thoughts, feelings, and fears of the protagonist. You should start with a positive aspect of the main character to create a positive mood.

Describe your setting. You can use three phases to describe a particular setting. This includes a specific time such as the Victorian age, during the world wars, the seventies and modern age. Then, narrow down to a specific place such as a suburb, war field, village, settlement or in a city. Finally, narrow down to a more precise setting such as an apartment, a mansion, a dingy house and a farmhouse. This will help in expressing the characters more vividly.

Include a key relationship. Such a novel is quite impressive when a male character is introduced. Such considerations make it easy to acknowledge different characters such as competitive, jealous, carefree attitude and a supportive person. You can also consider a life-changing romantic event that describes one character which is different from the true nature of the protagonist.

Strike a balance among different styles. You should use different styles such as humor, suspense, thrill, and sadness to make the novel quite exciting and engaging. You should find a balance on these styles to avoid concentrating on one making the whole novel dull. Even so, you can use suspense on a frequent basis to complete a topic or introduce a topic to lure the reader into reading more and more.

Show the emotion of the protagonist in unexpected settings. You can use the feelings, thoughts, and believes of your protagonist to create a twist. Such can be expressed when you include an unexpected behavior or reaction in the most unexpected setting. This consists of an emotional outburst or excitement in an environment such as a dinner, public gathering or during a conversation. A male character usually influences the behavior.

Consider your ending. The ending that you choose can spoil the whole novel or make it interesting as well. You can decide to end it as a twist, in a happy ending, a long view ending or in an unresolved way. Happy endings are usually the best since they resolve the suspense that is created throughout the plot. It is most suitable for a horror story or a true story.
