Tips On How To Start Writing A Book

By Kevin Harris

When writing books, the hardest part would always be the first part of the process because when one gets his flow going, then he will be able to just keep on working until he is finished. The hardest part is the planning or the outlining since this is the part that would be the most tedious. So for those who want to create a good written material, then here are some steps on how to start writing a book.

Now when one would want to create books, he first has to decide what kind would it be. If it is a novel, then one has to further decide what genre of story he would want to zoom in on. If it is not, then he may write something like how to books, instructional books, or even self help books which are very popular nowadays.

No matter what kind of material one will be creating, he will definitely have to create an outline so that he has something to follow. Usually, the outline would include a foreword or an about the author section, the first chapter, then the succeeding chapters. Of course for the novels, there would sometimes be a prologue.

Now one has to remember that all outline headings are supposed to have subheadings. Now for instance, if one would want to make a chapter that deals with saving tips, then the tips would be the subheadings. This is often done so that the chapter will be able to have a good flow.

Now the foreword is very important because it would tell the readers about the author and some of the things he would want to share. One will also know how the author got his inspiration for the material by reading the foreword part. Also, there would be some thank you messages from the author to certain people who actually did contribute to the creation of his work.

Now the first chapter or the introduction is always very significant because it would be the part that would give the birds eye view on what to come which means that it has to be written properly. In a novel, the first chapter would usually give the readers an illustration about the setting and the characters. The self help or instructional books on the other hand would give the readers an idea of the topic so that the readers would know what they are going to read about later on.

With that, one can actually write the rest of the book now. One has to remember to follow the subheadings for each chapter so that he will not get lost. Since the hard part is done, then the next parts are easier already.

If one is an amateur author, then an outline is very useful. Since the hardest part is the first part, then the outline is very important. The outline will provide the blueprint of the book and will give the author and easier time in keeping the flow and coherence of the book that he is writing.
