4 Recommendations for Effective Online Article Writing

By Victor Krumm

To write effectively, one must first understand what writing is fundamentally about.

That fact is as true for article marketing specialists as for writers of hard-copy.

The Internet is full of SEO tutorials which, among other things, recommend article marketing but few of these tutorials address the techniques of effective writing.

Writing is, of course, a uniquely human activity that allows one's ideas and knowledge to be put into a medium where they can be read or used by others.

But, of course, there are vast differences in the quality and substance of writing today, particularly online. Fact is, the Net is flooded with an enormous amount of content, much of it barely (if that) comprehensible and compounded by "webmasters" who gin out a steady stream of pap using PLR articles and spinning software improperly.

The consequence? Their brand is damaged, potential traffic is lost, and many of their articles are deleted by article directories.

Here's a little advice and general guidelines for serious online entrepreneurs who understand the importance of maintaining quality in their article marketing strategy.

Tip1 Write with relevancy

Like everything else in life, writing needs to have a point. It must have a theme at its core around which the article is built.

Online users are seeking information or answers to their questions. If they figuratively ask you for the correct time of day, don't tell them how to build a clock!

Tip 2 Don't imitate the writing styles of other people

Choose your own voice and style. Don't try to be like somebody you're not. You need to stand apart from your competitors. Avoid using too much lingo and write clear, concise content. Create powerful headlines that capture readers ' attention fast. Add your character and humor to your blog or website, and don't be a copycat.

Tip 3 Optimise your content by including highly targeted relevant keywords

Article marketing differs in one enormous respect from writing for other media: you must include keywords that are targeted and designed to produce traffic so search engines like Google and online searchers can find your article.

Research keyword phrases by using online keyword tracker tools. Don't stuff your content with too many or too frequently used keywords - ensure that the keywords you use are relevant to the theme of the article and sound natural.

Tip 4 Better a short, tight article than a long, meandering article

The longer the article, the more likely you'll veer away from its core theme and cause the reader to lose interest. Better to write a 300-500 word article that keeps the reader involved.
