Importance Of Author Visits Assemblies

By Martha Roberts

There is no other known way to involve students in writing, reading and a creative learning process than author lectures. Hiring a credible author who is knowledgeable and has written several reading materials, would be the best way to mentor your students. It is not even the reading materials these authors have written that makes this process meaningful. It is because meeting the experts in person makes this whole writing process, books, and talent, real to students and teachers and easily accessible. This article highlights some benefits of author visits assemblies.

They help promote reading. When the writer presents his writing struggles until he became a professional writer to students, the learners get familiar with the case and helps them identify their hidden skills and talents. It is through this procedure that many students understand reliable reading book selections from great authors and crafts for reading books.

They expound the creativity of learners. In every session from a great publisher, many people who were attentive or rather serious, find their voice through creative ideas they learned from the program. Pupils learn to become to become whoever they want to be in future as there are always walls and distractions in which one has to be creative to maneuver.

They also encourage risk-taking. It is a proven fact that when many students write their assignment or exams in school sometimes, they are afraid to do anything extra. This is because they are afraid of being judged and they just do what needs to be done for their grade alone. With motivation from these experts, a student is encouraged to go beyond his limits and take risks in whatever he wants.

They ignite ideas in students and teachers. You will find that most of these prominent writers also have a rough background and struggles too. When a writer narrates his path until where he is now, students familiarize with the situation and realize their capabilities regardless of their background. This is when most people find their skills and hidden talents to do something meaningful in life.

An everyday interaction with teachers makes the students close to them and to develop selective listening since they tend to take teachers as their family. In this case, you will find a teacher explaining the same thing over and over again, but it does not sink in the minds of learners until they hear the same thing from someone different. This can be an expert publisher who validates what the teacher taught them in different terms or actions.

These sessions help form friendships. Interaction with different experts helps boost friendships among students, teachers, and the scribe. When the students socialize with these experts at a personal level, they build good relationships and continue seeking writing guidance from the expert even after the mentorship session. Teachers also become creative and may coach clients of the professional to enhance their creativity.

These meetings motivate writing. When these experts visit classrooms with their favorite writing tricks and tips, they get the students motivated to become writers. Hearing a real-life experience from a published writer about ideas of writing and publication gets students and teachers thinking of ways to start doing the same.
