Find some Current or Trending Top Stories or News...try searching what's trending right now on the news, google, Amazon, yahoo, youtube or facebook. What are people searching today i.e. celebrities, new product releases, movies, sports, music, stocks, economy, etc.

What are your interests or do you want to learn more about a particular topic? What areas do you have experience in or how did you overcome a particular challenge or some achievements?

Next you have to perform some keyword research to make sure your topic is going to drive a decent level of traffic from people searching your topic. This indicates if anybody else cares about your subject? Pick a main keyword and some related variations also for your article or post for seo purposes.

Research other successful blogs in your market that attract a lot of visitors paying attention to topics and writing styles.

Start Writing...and keep on writing!

When you start writing, it is important to get your thoughts down first before trying to edit. Do NOT try to edit your work as as you go! This sounds simple, but it often creates a problem in disrupting the flow of thoughts for many bloggers which may not actually end up writing anything at all with too many stoppages derailing your thought train.
