The Benefits Of Story Telling Classes

By Myrtle Cash

Stories are fascinating because they reflect different scenarios in life that no one ever gets to experience in entirety. Still, parents are encouraged to enroll their children in story telling classes because this activity has holistic benefits especially during early formative years. While the art is not yet lost, here is to hoping that it will not be overshadowed by the modernization of time.

It is essential for parents to spend quality time with their kids through a personal activity such as this. Unfortunately, some adults fail to recognize the continued appreciation for this craft that they do not look into its advantages. This is a comprehensive look into the learning process and why it nurtures young minds quite well.

Kiddie entertainment has to be provided by the parents in the form of recreational activities, educational toys or reading materials. More often than not, however, adults simply turn on the television and switch channels to cartoon shows. This alone is not something that could nurture your child, more so with his or her ability to have a well developed mentality.

Sure, there are plenty of shows that could save you from having to shower attention to your kid. However, the act of storytelling is more personal in approach because of the sharing that exists between you two. You get to bond deeply and throw ideas back and forth which will greatly contribute in opening up the eyes of your kid to newer things.

This is because it is an activity that can improve the thinking capacity of children and their desire for learning. With different scenarios that are tackled in every plot, naturally, the kids will feel compelled to ask questions. This curiosity then leads to openness and a great attention to detail while minding context clues.

Stories capture ones imagination and holds you captive within its grip. Because of the distinct plot of each, making your child recall past sessions is one way of testing his or her memory. If you continually do this, you will help your kid enhance his or her recall skills and sharpen the ability to remember details and contexts.

The good thing about sharing interesting things with your children is that they learn lessons from it. Thus, parents should also make it a point to select content that is not only understandable for their age but also filled with positive deeds. Given that they are in the formative years, they have the tendency to learn things that are repeated to them through the course of time.

As for the increasing relevance of discussing globalization, it is also okay to bring up cultural references early on. This is so they become aware that people of different nationalities have their own set of beliefs and genetic makeup. All throughout the world, there are millions in each country that have distinct traits on their own.

If there is any opportunity for your children to attend story telling classes, encourage them to participate. This is one of the ways that they could pry open that barrier that shields them from the truths of the world. It is your job as a parent to also nurture that strong relationship with them by initiating sharing experiences and letting them interpret things freely, until they find that truth.
