2 Days Workshop on Persuasive Business Presentations

An intensive, two-day workshop for managers, department heads, sales professionals, team leaders, trainers, lawyers, government officials and others who wish to improve their speaking and presentation skills and be more persuasive.

Workshop Synopsis

The purpose of most business presentations is not merely to inform – it is to win support for your ideas, to get buy-in for your proposals, to persuade. In this high-impact, two-day workshop, participants will learn how to size up an audience and answer the question in everyone's mind: "What's in it for me?" They will also learn the secrets of developing rapport and connecting with their audience. Participants will have the opportunity to deliver short presentations and hone their persuasion skills. They will learn when and how to use Powerpoint, flip charts, props, and other media to move their audience to action. Finally, we will introduce a checklist to make certain that key elements are not overlooked and golden opportunities are not missed.

While we will pay some attention to delivery style and how to manage adverse conditions, we will emphasize various techniques of conveying key points powerfully and persuasively.

Note: This is not a typical presentation skills course. The focus is on substance and persuasiveness. We will not teach you how to articulate, breathe or speak the Queen's English in two days. We will debunk a lot of conventional "wisdom" about business presentations and make you a much more compelling and persuasive presenter.

Workshop participants should expect to be challenged and to encounter new ideas.

Composing Engineering Reports And Proposals

By Annabelle Holman

Communication is important in all fields of education. This is the primary and most use mode of evaluation where the students or learners have to show their understanding on a subject matter through communicating in one way or the other. For engineering students, one major way of being tested is by writing engineering reports and proposals on a certain research topic or agenda.

Report writing is also done in the formal sector of employment where prominent and skilled engineers have to give their proposals on certain aspects of their work. The above pieces of literature are in most cases expected to be quite technical to say the least. The expert or student who is expected to come up with a report or a proposal should have vast knowledge in the subject field and discipline.

A report follows a certain set of rules when composing. A set format is the universal way of doing something that has been proved to be sufficiently capable. The main aim of doing all of this work is to be able to communicate to the community and other colleagues and professionals in the subject field of specialization. This is a good skill that all professional in the subject area of specialty should adhere to have.

Planning in most cases refers to the process of jotting down a plot or a rough structure of the components of your proposal or report. This is to make sure that a person does not start writing and then lack content to finish up the work when still in the middle of the report or proposal. One does not want to find themselves hanging midway through the process of writing.

These are formal literature pieces that in most cases follow a certain format or mode of writing. The language to be used here is also recommend in most cases and is supposed to professional and technical. Reference techniques are also a major point to consider before embarking on the process of coming up with the above reports and proposals.

Engineering work is not an easy area of specialty to indulge in and it requires a lot of hard work and understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts. This field is normally characterized by a lot of research work and experimentation of theories that need to be successfully argued and proved without any reasonable doubt.

The ability to express the research work one has done in the engineering field in a report or proposal is very important for all experts and professionals in the above industrial sector. Experienced engineers who are working in the industry are normally required to come up with detailed and comprehensive proposals on projects that they are engaging in. This is just part and parcel of the day to day work schedule of an engineer.

All technical writing rules and regulations need to be followed to the letter. All the references that have been made when coming up with the subject work need to be cited properly and accurately. No form of plagiarism is accepted when composing the subject work and such occurrence of this nature is termed as unprofessional and unethical by all means possible.

A Reliable Oil And Gas Technical Writer And Editor Is A Must

By Annabelle Holman

As with all jobs there will definitely be certain requirements and credentials which need to be authenticated prior to lace meant. This is true also of the Oil and Gas technical writer and editor positions available. When one browses the online job market, it seems there is a multitude of different positions to choose from, only if you fit the requirements.

Most publications benefit greatly from the incorporation of the practical abilities of a product translated concisely and simply. It should appeal to a wide and diverse audience, in order to keep the ratings up, and for readers to keep returning for more information. This responsibility lies on how well the author does their job, and also whether their news is current. Often the way in which an article is worded, can influence the opinion of a potential purchaser.

With the ever evolving world of fuel and power, it is always a good idea to try to keep abreast of the latest additions and improvements. This is where the author can offer insight as well as amazement. Their work relies on research the empowering knowledge that they can divulge to eager readers and followers.

No matter the method in which you achieve your information, whether it is by interviewing people in the industry, or by attending seminars, the information documented should be authentic and reliable. It is only when a product is investigated thoroughly that an opinion can be formulated on it. This is why product reviews are an important source of information that can influence its success.

Many different people will enjoy the articles, and it would be sensible to appeal to a diverse audience. Through the numerous publications or manuals amongst others, you can reach your target market and help the industry convey their enhancements or products vividly. Experience in documentation, often allows for more informative pieces to be written, since each piece requires its own methods of research.

Whether you are investigating and documenting aspects of nuclear power, or even hydro power systems, you are sure to be intrigued by the brilliance that is in the advancements and technologies being employed at present. Another eye-opener is the constant evolving of all industries related to the power and fuel world. To be able to translate this to the reader effectively and with a sense of awe is a responsibility with great promise and satisfaction.

There are brochures; manuals, magazines and virtual pamphlets to name a few that can concern themselves with renewable energy, nuclear power, hydro reviews and the power system workings. This wide spectrum of interest has the ability to involve a wider margin of interests and personalities. Therefore, keeping work available and abundant, this is good news for the technical author.

By keeping your writing informative, on trend and exciting, you will keep the readers fascinated and well-versed, which is probably the most important asset you can boast about. Every new piece should portray the integrity and honesty that all of the industries involved deserve, and concisely summarize the intent and function of the product or advancement.

The Importance Of Young Adult Book Reviews

By Annabelle Holman

Young adults often find they cannot relate to books written for adults. They want to read stories with gripping plots, extraordinary events and characters with whom they can identify. They want to read about challenges they are facing, written honestly and tackling issues head on. Authors have responded to this need and many such books are now available. There are literally thousands of young adult book reviews online.

These reviews are written by people from all types of different backgrounds, ages and with different levels of skill. Some even make money from those they write and may not be altogether honest. In such a situation there may be some confusion about which reviews to rely on.

One of the ways to know that a review is honest is if it is written by a friend. This is where social networking sites can be helpful. They provide a way of finding out what friends are reading and what they thought about certain books. This is particularly helpful if the friend likes the same kind of books.

Some review sites stand out above the others. One finds mention of them on many blogs and sites devoted to listing the best places to find books. When going to such a site, one simply selects a genre. Under the specific genre, one can find books suited to a particular age group. An advantages of belonging to such a site is that recommendations may given based on what has already been read.

When joining a review site run by peers, this offers an opportunity to relate to others of the same age in a unique way. Perhaps some of the reviews are not polished and they may even be badly written. However, they are often brutally honest. Sometimes they are glowingly enthusiastic and this may just spark a response. A site like this will often have lists of books read most recently and provide updates on new books.

It is also possible to follow a favorite author on Twitter and this may be another way to find the most suitable books. One may even find out more about a new book being written in a popular series in this way. Authors may also tweet recommending other authors or novels in a similar style.

One often finds that adolescents do not know what to read once they have grown out of childhood stories. Encouraging them to use online platforms may just result in them finding books they love and establishing a new love of reading. They may find out what fun it is to participate in discussions about books with others who have enjoyed them.

If they think that adult books are irrelevant to them, they will be astounded at the huge variety of fiction addressed specifically to them. Many adults even secretly find these books highly entertaining. All kinds of genres are covered and all sorts of relevant issues dealt with in a way that is honest and easily understood.

There are a wealth of opportunities online for young adults today. This type of literature is becoming extremely popular, to the extent that even many adults are reading these books. Sites have numerous ways to encourage reading from holding contests, establishing fan clubs, giving information about favorite authors and allowing users to establish virtual bookshelves.
