By Kristen Waller

A lot of the common authors nowadays have suffered from being an unpublished author in the past. These authors have worked hard to have their books on Alaska officially published. After all, it is an author's greatest pride to have their own works officially published and sold in the market. The aim is to get recognition from the target audience.

Those who are interested in getting their works published should seek advice on how to do so. This is an important rule of the thumb, especially to those writers who have yet to publish their own works. It will not be a simple task to find a publisher who is willing to publish what he wrote.

He should find an appropriate publisher who will publish his works. Every written works has a genre that it belongs to. That is why, it is only appropriate for him to locate a publisher who is obviously publishing works of similar genre. He should be able to find a publisher if he visits a good bookstore.

It is also possible for the individual to find a such a publication company if he goes to the library. The library is a treasure trove of literary arts. It will be easy for him to create a list of publication companies who are in the same genre through the reference books that he can find in the library.

Going through the library or bookstore allows him to make a list of the potential publishers that he can negotiate with. He must call them up and speak to a representative or secretary. Ask for the name of the acquisitions editor in charge of submissions. Also, he should ask if there are special protocols for submissions from unpublished writers.

He should then ask for the requirements he should be sending along with his manuscript. Of course, the common ones to include in the submission is the cover letter which describes the book he is about to send and a sample of a section of the entire manuscript. If he wants his materials to be returned in case it is rejected, he should include a postage with it.

These requirements should then be placed in a single envelope so that they will not be lost on the way to the editor's desk. Of course, this is what one would professionally call the submission kit. He should remember to send submission kits to the publication companies that he wishes to deal with.

Do not forget to follow up on his submission. For the follow up, he just needs to make sure that the editor who decides on whether the book is good for publication or not has already read his manuscript. It might take some time to make the final decision of whether they will be publishing the work or not so he must be patient.

If there is no publisher who is willing to publish his books on Alaska, then it might be best for him to take another look at his manuscript. If it is getting bad feedback, then it is high time for him to get some editorial assistance. This is the best way for him to get his manuscript in gear for publication.
