The Importance Of Collaboration Fiction

By Sharron Cantu

Most authors do not even consider the possibility of working together with other authors. They see this as being contradictory to being able to express their own vision. However, there are those that have produced collaboration fiction with great success. Where control has been shared successfully, the result can have a richness of many voices and sometimes surpass the efforts of each author working individually.

Academics often have to collaborate with one another in the writing of academic articles and papers. However, it is in the field of fiction where this type of writing as particular challenges. Such a collaboration may be attempted by a writing group as a way of developing the skills of participants and this can help them a great deal. Many collaborations are attempted for commercial purposes too, where experienced authors decide to work with one another.

When working together in this way, as with any other project requiring people to work together, everyone has to relinquish total control. The unique skills and ways in which each individual works have to be taken into account. Each individual has to be open to encouragement as well as criticism. This can only happen if there is mutual respect. If there is a creative synergy between authors, this can speed the process of writing and increase the motivation of each person.

It is often difficult when combining the output of several people to produce a coherent, consistent story. In order to do this, it is important for each individual to have a specific role, know what this is and rely on others to perform their roles too. Each author will often have different talents and recognizing and utilizing this is one of the best ways to produce a good end product. For example, one may push the story forward and another work on developing dialogue and settings.

The division of work is done differently in each case. Some collaborations are looser than others with no plot outline from the beginning and authors contributing randomly, as and when they can. Others are very structured with the basic plot being brainstormed at the beginning and each author knowing exactly what they are responsible for, whether it be developing a certain character or writing specific chapters. Sometimes each author will write sub-plots and they will only be interwoven at the end.

Various problems can arise when a group of authors collaborate on a story. One person may feel that the workload has not been evenly distributed or that his or her suggestions are consistently ignored. Another may want to take over and tell everyone else what to do. A clash of egos can result in disaster.

The world of gaming has resulted in some collaborative writing. This is probably due to the role-playing nature of many of these games where characters constantly interact with one another. Other attempts in collaborative storytelling have been done at online websites where a story is begun and then driven forward by visitors to the site.

When people co-operate with another to produce books, the efforts can be disappointing but they can also be rich and complex. This type of work definitely has a place, especially when accomplished authors succeed in working together. They can produce books that reach greater heights than they could possibly have accomplished on their own.

Benefits Of Joining A Creative Writing Website

By Miranda Sweeney

Many creative writers have a hard time getting their work published simply because they do not have the connections in order to shoot out their works to the public. Nowadays, one does not need to really worry so much about that problem any more simply because there is now such a thing called the internet. There is such a thing called a creative writing website wherein amateur writers may actually share their work.

Now do take note that there are so many types of websites that one may join depending on the purpose of the sites. All these sites have different purposes for writers with different agendas. There would be sites where one can share work, sites where one can improve skills, and sites where one can sell content.

First off, there would be the websites that would allow writers all around the world to upload their works for the entire community to see. From there, one could make friends, share some ideas, and even critique the work of each other. That way, one will be able to get a lot of tips for improvement and a lot of friends whom he can meet up with in order to show his latest work.

Now if one is looking for a place where he can improve his skills with the pen, then he can sign up for those sites that would specially give some lessons on how to write creatively. These sites would have a lot of videos, newsletters, and even web seminars that would be able to amateurs be able to learn more about their craft. Of course there would also be a portion of the site that would allow members to interact.

Now if one feels like he already has made some great works that may sell, he may actually look for clients who might want to buy them. There are sites that would connect writers to clients who would want to buy content for a website or for other publications. The clients will just simply send a message to the writer and negotiate for a good price.

Now there are also those websites that would hold competitions for writers around the world. Now this would be a great place for one to get some recognition if he believes that his skills are good. The organizer of the contest would usually promote the works of the winner.

These competitions would also usually have some cash prizes that are given through Paypal or other payment facilities. So if one would sign up, he would have to have an account wherein the organizers can send the money. If one wants to earn some extra cash from writing, then this is one of the ways to do it since the cash prizes of these contests can be really big.

So if one would want to be able to have a good career in the field of creative writing, then maybe he should try joining one of these websites. He would definitely be able to use these platforms to grow as a writer. Through these websites, one can hone his skills and even gain a lot of recognition as a writer.

2 Day Workshop in Handling Challenging Discussions

- How to turn a problematic conversation into an effective dialogue

Introduction

The workplace is a complicate place; it is impossible to live a life without discussion and confrontation. For various reasons very often, discussions and confrontation may turn to be very challenging. Learning how to handle them is vital. Confrontational discussions are normally the reason of many conflicts, which can influence employees' effectiveness. Researchers say many hours are lost in the work place because of unnecessary long term turbulent discussions, misunderstanding and disputes, which very often lead employees to boycott projects by avoiding job responsibilities and become non co-operative. They are normally the cause of unnecessary stress, unhappiness, bad business and painful relationships. If not resolved on time, the unresolved issued may frustrate and demotivate employees with an obvious loss of productivity and creativity. In this workshop we aim to equip you with enough learning and practical tools which will help you to face challenging discussions with confidence and emotional balance. A lot of disputes in the workplace can be eliminated through the use of specific language techniques that encourage working together rather than creating ugly confrontation. The Very Best Affiliate Marketing Tricks And Tips

By Rey Georges

Making your business work is a full time job. This is especially so if you have an online business. Your business is always open and it's always available to customers. But that means you have to attract customers 24 hours a day. Here are some great ways to use online marketing to get visitors to your site.

To be successful at internet promotion, focus on quality, rather than quantity of response you receive. Visitors to a site are useless if they're not customers who are interested in your product. By focusing your energy on people interested in things your company specializes in, you are more likely to gain their attention and respect.

Unconventional advertising on the internet may be very useful. For instance, you could create a YouTube channel where you demo your products for all to see. Not only does this let your potential customers comment and rate your product, but it can also create a closer bond between you and your customers. They will feel they are closer to your company and will return for more products.

For a small business or large corporation, diversity on the web, is key to a successful business. Market yourself on your own website, various blogs, social networking sites and any other outlet you can find. Also, cross reference things like your company's website and your company's Facebook page. This will increase your web traffic and your business, overall.

Use press releases to get traffic to your site. Submit to public release directories and wait for people to find you. The great thing about press releases is that you may even be contacted by reporters who want to talk to you about your product or service and print it in their publication.

Advertise for all ages. You want to make sure that all of your prospective buyers can comfortably read and navigate your website. Make sure that your links are visible, your check-out processes are simple, and provide help access to those who may need it. You do not want to alienate anyone who may be willing to buy from you!

Set a clear goal for yourself. Make sure you know exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish with your Website marketing. Make sure your goal is specific and, most importantly, attainable. Focus on one thing at a time. Having goals that are too broad and difficult to accomplish will only serve to discourage you.

Do not let a "404" hit your network. There is nothing more frustrating than to click a link, only to have it tell you the page has moved. When you move or change a page, provide a redirect allowing the search engine to navigate your consumer to the correct page, even if the link they have on record is invalid.

Share your news, knowledge and information through online press releases. This can be a great way to get your name out there and draw people to your site. It also gives you the appearance of being an expert in your chosen area. Incorporate a few hyperlinks or keywords and you might also see an increase in search engine visibility.

Having true fans is a great way to succeed in website marketing, so always put the effort in to make fans out of every visitor to your site. When you give people something to look forward to, your business is able to transcend the simple selling of a product and you become something much more forceful in business.

Website marketing is indeed a thing of great variety with so many strategies and plans. That is both its success and its downfall. Its success is that it has many options that are customizable and its downfall is that it has too many options to choose from. These tips should have made it a bit easier for you to learn how to market on the internet.

2 Days Workshop on Persuasive Business Presentations

An intensive, two-day workshop for managers, department heads, sales professionals, team leaders, trainers, lawyers, government officials and others who wish to improve their speaking and presentation skills and be more persuasive.

Workshop Synopsis

The purpose of most business presentations is not merely to inform – it is to win support for your ideas, to get buy-in for your proposals, to persuade. In this high-impact, two-day workshop, participants will learn how to size up an audience and answer the question in everyone's mind: "What's in it for me?" They will also learn the secrets of developing rapport and connecting with their audience. Participants will have the opportunity to deliver short presentations and hone their persuasion skills. They will learn when and how to use Powerpoint, flip charts, props, and other media to move their audience to action. Finally, we will introduce a checklist to make certain that key elements are not overlooked and golden opportunities are not missed.

While we will pay some attention to delivery style and how to manage adverse conditions, we will emphasize various techniques of conveying key points powerfully and persuasively.

Note: This is not a typical presentation skills course. The focus is on substance and persuasiveness. We will not teach you how to articulate, breathe or speak the Queen's English in two days. We will debunk a lot of conventional "wisdom" about business presentations and make you a much more compelling and persuasive presenter.

Workshop participants should expect to be challenged and to encounter new ideas.

He practiced law in the United States for more than ten years, arguing before judges and political, government, and community bodies. He knows how to persuade the toughest audiences. David is trained as a mediator and has managed small businesses as well.

Recognizing that lawyers perpetuate rather than solve problems, David began lecturing and training in 1995. He has taught at the tertiary level in the USA and in Singapore. As a trainer, David applies the "80/20 Rule" by identifying the few critical tools necessary for the greatest improvement and presenting them in a form that is easy to learn and simple to use. He is the author of three books and numerous articles in his field of expertise.

David specializes in Negotiation, advocating the interest-based negotiation approach developed at Harvard to achieve win-win outcomes. However, he can also take the gloves off and teach more hardball tactics and counter-tactics. He uses simulations, role play, skits, and interactive sessions to help participants learn and improve critical negotiating skills and behaviors. David is the author of Win-Win Negotiations: Developing the Mindset, Skills and Behaviours of Win-Win Negotiators. He also trains in the related field of conflict management.

David also conducts workshops in Persuasive Presentation Skills, Storytelling in Business, Assertiveness, and Influence and Persuasion. David has written widely on business and communications issues, and is the author of Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?: Lessons in Effective Communication.
